The sole intention on discovery of money(Paper money) was to simplify the trade and it was introduced to be medium of exchange as Barter system had its own limitations. It took lot of time to come up with paper money solution after we traded with commodities like Animals, Alcohols, Stones, Gold , silver etc . So basically it was supposed to be easiest way of exchanging the value with different people. But today Money has become dream, destination and decision for most of the people. There is a chase & Competition all round to get more and store as much as possible to make sure our future is secured. It is also said that Money gives freedom which is true in a sense but is it directly proportional? Will earning more money will give us more freedom ? This is something to think about as money can make life comfortable for short period but true freedom should come from within and it is in present but not in future. It is said that Money gives Power but is it really true as True power lies in relationship and our capacity to create new realities together and may be money can be used as medium for it. There is a huge drive towards money with a wrong approach and this needs to change somehow for people to live their Passion , stand for a Purpose which they care for and thus create bigger Impact.
I would like to bring the concept of Ken Honda, a Japanese Author of Happy Money and called Zen millionaire who talks about EQ of Money or Emotional side of money. According to him there are different categories of people in terms spending the money. Everyone of us has been programmed in different way with the experience events and beliefs we have from childhood and seeing Parents behavior in relation to money. Below are the few categories of people in terms of relationship with money.
Saver– Most important is to save money whatever received and having lots of money in the bank account makes feel safe and secure .Feel to be expert in bargaining while shopping
Spender – Favorite thing to do is spending money whatever received and love giving gifts for no reason. This type of people have just one motto “you live only once”. They feel more control over money while spending.
Moneymaker – Earning money makes them feel great and majority of the energy is spent in improving the ability to make money. They chose to work rather than spending time with family.
Indifferent – They rarely think about money and will be happy to leave all money to their Partner or close one’s account. Money is never a source of stress or concern for these people.
Monk – They believe Money is bad and world should focus on every other important thing than money . They like to live life least affected by money.
Splurger – They often save for long and then spend it all . They swing between saving and spending.
Gambler – They live for excitement and thrills and often take big risks with money for the big rewards.

There are mainly 5 Types of Emotions (Happy, Sad , Fear , Anger, and Shame) which Humans have and others are subset of these. Most of the people have Toxic relationship with money as when it is part of our life we feel happy and sometime invincible as we know that we can do everything we desire but the moment money goes away it leaves us with all the negative emotion like worry, Fear, anxiety, guilt etc and this leads us to the scarce mentality. Money at different times gives different emotions. It is very obvious that same money gives multiple experiences of different emotions which in turn have significant impact to our body and mind. Just bringing smile to your face even it is fake can give signal to your brain to release a good chemical called dopamine which helps to reduce stress and any other negative emotion surely harm our body. This means that Money may give some energy sometime while takes away at the other time with the kind of emotion it creates. So in other words money is nothing but a form of energy and if is then it can be transformed from one form to another.
Ken Honda talks about a concept called Arigato in -Arigato out for cleansing and healing the relationship with money. Arigato in Japanese means “Thank you” or “feeling of appreciation”. This technique allows to begin feel comfortable with Money and showing appreciation towards money rather than fear or any other negative emotion. It means whenever you receive money from any source (Arigato -in) or spend money for any purpose (Arigato -out), you need to say thanks or appreciate both the experiences. The feeling of gratitude should be genuine. it is like just Paying attention to the every transaction of money appreciating about it. Lets imagine you are at cash counter and paying the money for the goods bought then while giving the money/Card/E-money, close your eyes for a second and appreciate it saying thank you. It is easy for things you are getting in return like shopping and eating in restaurant as you will get something in return but not easy for something like Paying Taxes but if you think about it , anyway you have to pay so choice is yours whether you want to pay with grudges or with appreciation. It needs practice , a lot of practice but gradually money will become like flow of energy and will be in abundance around. This is an unimaginable experience if followed consistently.
There will always be different situations around in life but money should be there for every possibility and it is surely important to pay attention to the relationship we are making with it . Money needs to be seen as just energy and appreciating it in every transaction with give meaningful meaning to it and thus money will never depreciate and will be only Happy Money around you. It is said that “what you appreciate, Appreciates”!!
