In this highly distracted world when when we are spending significant amount of time on media and social media and wonder where we as humanity are moving towards and there is common sentiment among most of us loosing faith about our life & work certainty. I belong to millennial generation and I have been brought up with a thought that once our studies are over and we grab a job in a good organization, then we are settled and so we have been compromising with everything throughout to get that JOB. But today when we have it we are much more uncertain than our older generation and the reason is the exponential changes disrupting everything around and our skills are getting obsolete. We as individuals are struggling to identify the skills we need to learn to retain in the battlefield and Organization too are struggling to understand whether they focus on current employees upskilling or they should hire new talent to get the job done efficiently. We have seen tremendous change both positive and negative in everything around where on one side Technology has improved our life which was unimaginable few decades before and on the other side we are seeing catastrophic damage to our environment raising global warming to an extent that places recognized as colder region have faced temperature up to 50 degree Celsius. We live in a world where we have more opportunity than what most people could have possibly imagined just a few decades ago. And while this is a great sign for the advancement of humanity as a whole, there is a downside: It’s becoming increasingly harder for most of us to prepare ourselves for what seems to be a really unpredictable future.

This becomes more and more important for everyone to discover their uniqueness before doing anything as whatever we do we cant compete with computer and artificial intelligence on their specialized rigid intelligence but it will take multiple decades more for competing with Human cognitive intelligence. So it is important for Humans to Rehumanize on their rather than competing on specialized skills with AI and computers which we cant do it anyways. Lets look at a framework which may help shifting your mindset and brings much opportunity in life. Being Human is more about understanding It is not about how you get a better job but how you make yourself so resourceful that opportunities are attracted towards you whether it is an Organization or people who wants to work with you. Lets understand it with 4W’s method as mentioned below
- What– This has to be an initial step to be futureproof to understand what do you want to learn and create which is very much intrinsic to you and for which you are always curious about. This can only be learnt when one identifies and explores the curiosity which inspires to understand more about Passion which drives you. This is connected to the Frontal Lobe in Brain which in turn linked for imagination. I have come across very interesting link to Identify the Passion you have by Roger Hamilton’s Free Passion Test.
- Who– Once you are closer to What you want to create then bigger the cause more people you will need to create it to support and have guidance which will need better Networking which requires being generous with your time and connections in a process of continuous giving and taking. There could never be better time than now to make connections your priority. Identify the people you want to meet and seek knowledgeable mentors who have social or leadership skills you want to emulate or find people who can polish your skills or may connect you to areas of professional growth. Keith Ferrazzi, an author and coach talks about Relationship action plan (RAP) which is an act of proactively working to advance relationships with the people you want to connect.
- When – This is more about when and where you show up and it says it is important to look for opportunity to show up in groups of like minded people and collaborate with them as it supports anyone to get in to flow with similar thoughts. You can plan the collaboration may be by hosting dinner , attending some events or conferences(Physical or Virtual) creating your own community with your society or may be social media to grow together , share ideas and work on a bigger cause to create a little better world.
- What else – Together with all the 3 steps above It is also equally and always important to look for the opportunity to contribute that one’s own enrichment for greater good of community & society as it comes back automatically as an enrichment itself to you and the underlying question for contribution is What do you give back to People, community and planet to change the world a little better. Contribution may or may not tangible but it should create an impact for better. One very powerful thing could be to change the mindset from “expectation” to “contribution” and you wake everyday with an intention to contribute something to someone which truly changes your relationship with anyone.
