As Millenials(1980-1994) or GEN-Y continues to disrupt and change the world faster than any other generation, there is another generation GEN-Z (1995-2010) is ready to take the baton and take the race forward. According to research from Bloomberg in 2018 GEN-Z has surpassed Millenials and constitutes around 32% of Total World Population. While Millenials gets experienced in another decade, Gen-Z will start dominating the digital world with their fluency of getting naturally connected and when 3-4 generation will work together, their context, Behaviours, and the way they will consume will differ in multiple ways as per Mckinsey report and thus friction will not be the surprise working together.

Gen-X and Y should consider the fact that Gen-Z has never known a world without the Internet and they only know that influencing anyone is just a “tweet” away. If they want to become a rockstar, they can do that sitting in their bedroom and can earn how much they want. They are known as Communaholic, Dialoguer, Campaigner, Influencer, Confrontational, etc.. If a Leader wants to lead this generation they need to socially aware and should check their facts as Gen-Z can see it right through.

While Gen-Z has all amenities and convenience provided to them from older generations, they are in a world which is going through a huge shift and going to face Social, economic and environmental challenge and they are ready to make an impact with full responsibility, Integrity, and transparency. They don’t want to be an employee with some agreement but looking for a partnership with an employer who has a common purpose and is committed to making the change. Even parenting for these Generations can’t be the same as they are different and need a different parenting style. Leading and Parenting Gen-Z with the same traditional approach may not work so Gen-X and Y(Millenials) as Parents and Leaders have a huge responsibility to understand these soldiers who want to make some positive change and gain back the resources which we have destroyed to the limit that our mother earth may not recover.
This new generation can only be led and managed by those who are passionate & committed to a Purpose and they are ready to integrate into the purpose of Leaders & Employers to work together for the same cause.so let’s give them the Purpose Baton to take the race forward autonomously and support them making a positive change and then finding another one to pass on the Baton with a similar purpose and making the bigger Impact and thus create Val-YOU.
And yes Gen-Alpha(2011-2025) is getting ready to grab the baton and continue the race….. 🙂
