In the movie “Avengers – End game”, one thing was definitely very prominent if you must have noticed which is the “Collaboration” of superpowers from a different world to save the universe and its people from Thanos. One of the blockbuster movies which almost everyone loved. I wanted to emphasize the word Collaboration and will take reference from the movie to explain it. Today in this digital post covid era we are working with so many people virtually and Physically. There are multiple tools available that can help to simply interact to collaborate but it needs to have some elements for real collaboration.
Collaboration literally means “the action of working with someone to produce something” but it has a deeper meaning to it apart from working together. It also involves Engagement, Alignment, commitment, etc to do the work in a much more efficient and effective manner. It is sometimes confused with the word Cooperation which does not have the same meaning. Cooperation is working with other to accomplish your own goals whereas Collaboration is working with others to accomplish Shared Goals.
There are a few elements for collaboration that are mentioned above but let me explain those in brief.

Identifying Purpose – The very first step is to identify the purpose one wants to stand for or the problems that one wants to solve. It needs to be authentically and unique and should solve the problem the world needs.
The audacity of Purpose – Audacity means being vocal about the purpose you want to stand for. Once the purpose is defined it needs to be announced to as many people as you can so that people who are aligned and want to join to solve the problem can approach join the team.
Engagement – Engagement is the pull toward the work or project where you are involved and for that to happen it is super important to have a collaborative team and a clearly defined purpose for the work. Without the Purpose, Engagement from everyone involved is difficult. In the Movie Endgame, engagement was there from everyone because there was a pull towards the purpose and that was to save the people and the universe.
Alignment – Every individual collaborating together should be aligned or linked to each other’s Purpose and also aligned to Organization/group/community Purpose and Alignment were very much visible in the movie which was everyone was connected somewhere to save their planet from Thanos and the ultimate aim of Avengers was to kills Thanos so everyone was aligned to one single purpose.
Commitment – Once engagement and alignment are in place, the 3rd element which is commitment is of utmost importance and needs integrity and Maturity to accomplish the goals. If the team is bigger and everyone does not have the same level of commitment, only one thing keeps them bound to each other and that is the Purpose of the work. In the movie endgame, we saw a different level of commitment from different superheroes but they kept going with the Purpose.
Coelevation – In the collaborative world and Teams, it is important to note it is not about becoming a shining star by suppressing other’s superpowers which normally happens in the corporate world. Coelevation means supporting each other and utilizing each other’s superpower for the common Purpose of the Team. Every character in Avengers had their own superpower and at some point in time there were also clashes due to their own ego but that did not help. They kept on uniting again and again only for their common purpose and that is to save their universe.
Goal achievement – Goal achievement is only possible when the task is divided as per the strength of the individual to solve the problem which they can solve and the world needs. Killing Thanos in the movie was not easy in the movie but it was only possible when they could travel with the help of Antman and then the rest is there in the movie :-). Goal achievement is important also because it gives the confidence to solve other problems and support others as well.
In any of the set up mostly, we are still focussing on Coordination and Cooperation which surely completes the task somehow but to make it efficient and effective, it is important to collaborate with each other at a deeper level, and to do that it is important to have defined purpose or I may call it Collaboration on Purpose.
